What to do in Chicago?

I've heard it's great to see comedy and that I must do an architecture cruise...any other recommendations appreciated!

I highly suggest a Segway Tour- A fun way to see the city, with amazing guides, and you also meet great people. - Ashlee Lorenz | Travel Consultant on Tue, 07/07/2015 - 06:06

Hi,

There is so much to do in the Windy City! There are many different beer and food tasting tours that are available in Chicago, a favourite is Chicago Food Planet Food Tours. They offer a 3 hour food tasting tour in the historic downtown area of Chicago. Another top tour is to go on a bike tour through the city either during the day or at night and see 2 different sides to Chicago. There is so much more to do here, but these would be my top 2!

- Go to the Willis Tower and have Chicago style pizza on 99 floors up. Then go up to the 103 floor to the most amazing photo at the glass box on the ledge.

- If you are there between Oct to Mar, go to United Center for a Bulls basketball game, the atmosphere would be amazing! Or a Blackhawks game as they just won the Stanley Cups this year.

Some fantastic answers here, as I've never been myself also some incredibly interesting advice.

I've heard there are a lot of comedy clubs, if there are and anyone knows where exactly they are I'd love to hear about them.

You should check out Navy Pier. Its the other end of Route 66, and a fun place to vist for a couple of hours at least.

The Art Institute has a huge collection including the famous American Gothic.

The Observsation deck in the John Hancock Center is another great experience, similar to the Willis Tower.

Shopping on the Magnificent Mile is always good, and there are loads of Irish Pubs downtown for a great evening out.

I showed your question to a friend of mine last night who had recently returned from extensive time living in Chicago. Whenever he had friends or family visit he would recommend the city pass to them - it was reasonably cheap to purchase and covered everything you could think of.

I guess we could sell this through most of our wholesalers, but there is also a comprehensive break-down on the below website.http://www.citypass.com/chicago/things-to-do-chicago.

He also said the best pizza is at Piece Pizza and Brewery (although opinion varies), it's hugely popular and very busy but well worth the wait.

I spent a day walking from downtown along the lakeshore to Lincoln Park and Wrigley Field. Didn't actually go to a baseball game but there was one on at the time and the atmosphere around there was amazing. The walk along the lake is also really pretty. Chicago has beaches!  Who knew :-)

Also went to the John Hancock Tower as I had heard it was better than Willis Tower. The Chicago History Museum is near Lincoln Park and was really good. The Art Museum was also really interesting, and get a self-guided walking map of the sculptures in the city.

Try some deep dish pizza somewhere and also go to Bobtail for some great ice cream.

I didn't go to a comedy club but did go and see a play at the Steppenwolf Theatre. Also take a look at Hubbard St for dance theatre if that's of any interest.  I didn't see any performances but did do a class there.

Chicago is one of my top 3 favourite cities in the US. Enjoy!

Chicago is a great sports city and one thing i always do it try to catch a Cubs game. Let me say right now there is nothing more electric than seeing a baseball game live with the die-hard fands at Wrigley Field. Plus the tight baseball pants on the players are butt hugging.

I think a nice afternoon is going to visit the Bean as well. There are some amazing sculputes and museums in the area too.

Chicago has an amazing comedy and theatre scene too. Currently Book of Mormon is showing there and I highly reccomend that.
